Friday Jun 10

Fender is done. The ridge has been added and it almost matches the passenger side.

Thursday June 9

Fender is almost finished today. Bondo has been skimmed over the metal and is ready for the shaping of the ridge.

Wednesday June 8

It has been hot this week. Extremely hot and extremely windy. Temperatures have been well over 100 degrees with 30 mile gusts and winds that are about 15 mile an hour pretty constantly. This makes summers in Kansas fell like the inside of a blast furnace.

This heat limits the amount of welding work we can do. It is well into the evening when Marc starts work on the fender. Today he tackled one of the hardest body work things he faces. Changing the driver's side fender to match the passenger side. This starts with welding sheet metal onto the fender and getting it to match the passenger side.

Tuesday June 7

The next step in the bed work, shortening the steps and starting on patch work. The steps are welded on and the rusted metal is starting to be cut away.

Monday June 6

Monday is moving day, for the fenders at least. Holes were drilled for the new fender locations. With the shortening of the bed, the fenders had to be moved towards the cab by 7 inches.

Of course the fender moving also involved me almost dropping the fender because this decided to climb on my shirt:

Sunday June 5

The longbed is now a shortbed!

Saturday June 4

Today the plasma cutter came in. Today we realized that the reciprocating saw would give us a much finer cut than the plasma cutter.

The instrument panel finally came out today and only a few knobs are left to remove from the dashboard.
Marc cut off of the tailgate so we can shorten the bed. It's going to look so much better than the longbed.
